Carnival Donut at Nestville Park

An event that brings generations together

Carnival season is one of the most beautiful times of the year, when joy awakens in people, along with the desire to celebrate and gather over good food. It is a symbol of merriment, abundance, and traditions passed down through generations in families and communities. And no Carnival would be complete without homemade donuts – soft, fragrant, and prepared with love, just the way we remember them from childhood.

This year again, Nestville Park in the village of Hniezdne was filled with a true Carnival atmosphere of traditions, aromas, and exceptional flavors. On Saturday, 7 February 2026, the fifth edition of the popular event Carnival Donut took place in the tasting room of the Nestville Distillery exhibition. The event was organized by the non-profit organization Protection of Nature and Our Traditions in cooperation with Nestville Park.

A diverse selection of traditional and original doughnuts

Nineteen teams from the Stará Ľubovňa district took part. They presented their skills and time-tested recipes. We can proudly say that this was the highest number of participating teams so far. Each table offered something special – from classic traditional donuts to original variations that managed to surprise even the greatest lovers of sweet treats.

Carnival Donut was not only about food. The entire event was filled with a warm atmosphere, laughter, and the joy of coming together. Each table offered classic and creative donuts that surprised even the biggest sweet lovers.

And which donuts were the best? Throughout the event, an expert jury diligently tasted, evaluated, and moved from table to table together with the visitors. However, choosing a winner proved to be impossible. Each team brought something unique, and every donut had its own unmistakable flavor.

In the end, everyone agreed that all competing teams were the winners. Because every recipe was proof of tradition, patience, and love – qualities that cannot be measured by points or compared. All teams received prizes as a keepsake of a day that once again showed that Carnival traditions still hold a strong place in our region.
